Brenda's 'Team Triumph'
“Good morning, team!” Brenda chirped, radiating a positivity usually reserved for lottery winners or people who just found a parking spot downtown. “Today, we’re going to bond!” A collective sigh, disguised as a series of throat clearings, swept through the room. Mark, ever the optimist, muttered, “Because we’re not already clinging to each other for dear life every Monday.”
Brenda then unveiled her masterpiece: “The Trust Fall... with a *twist*!” She gestured grandly to a wobbly step-ladder positioned precariously over a suspiciously flat pile of what might once have been beanbags. “You’ll fall, and your colleagues will catch you! It builds *synergy*!”
Sarah, whose smile could usually melt glaciers, now looked like she was trying to prevent one from forming on her face. “Oh, Brenda,” she purred, “you always come up with the *most innovative* ways to make us question our life choices.”
Mark volunteered first, with the enthusiasm of a condemned man choosing his last meal. “Just make sure you aim for the ‘beanbags,’ won’t you?” he called out, scaling the ladder with exaggerated caution. “Wouldn’t want to *spoil* this perfectly good concrete floor with my landing.”
As Mark teetered, Brenda shouted, “Teamwork makes the dream work!”
“Indeed,” Sarah murmured, barely audible. “Especially the dreams where I sue the company for occupational hazards.”
Mark finally plunged, landing with a dispiriting thud more *beside* the beanbags than *in* them. He lay there, grimacing. “Well, that was certainly a *unique* experience,” he declared, slowly picking himself up. “I feel incredibly… *aligned* with the office floor now. And my trust in gravity has never been stronger.”
Brenda beamed. “See? Growth! Who’s next?”
A profound silence settled. Sarah stepped forward, fixing Brenda with a gaze that promised eternal gratitude, laced with arsenic. “I simply *must* experience this unparalleled journey of corporate enlightenment, Brenda,” she announced. “I wouldn’t want to miss out on strengthening my core values... or perhaps, fracturing them.”
