The Strategic Genius of Gordon's Coffee Procurement Initiative
Gordon sashayed into the Monday morning meeting, beaming. "Team," he announced, "I've revolutionized our coffee consumption! No more chaotic free-for-all. We're implementing the 'Strategic Beverage Procurement Initiative'!" A hush fell, thicker than the office's instant coffee. "From now on, each coffee request requires a 'Tier 3 Caffeination Justification Form' – three pages, mind you – signed by your department head, approved by facilities, and then submitted to central procurement. Expect your artisanal, single-origin brew within two business weeks."
Brenda, whose veins were currently 90% lukewarm instant and 10% pure spite, cleared her throat. "Gordon, that's... incredibly thorough. I mean, who *wouldn't* want to dedicate an afternoon to paperwork for a simple cup of Joe? It truly highlights our commitment to... process." Her smile was a strained thing, barely concealing the urge to hurl a stapler.
Mark chimed in, equally deadpan. "Yes, Gordon, the sheer *efficiency* of it all. Imagine the productivity boost we'll see once everyone is adequately hydrated two weeks *after* they needed the caffeine. Pure genius. I anticipate a surge in early morning mindfulness exercises, as we'll all be forced to meditate on the concept of 'future coffee'."
Gordon puffed out his chest. "Precisely! It's about strategic thinking, not impulsive quaffing. We're eliminating wasteful spontaneity!"
Brenda nodded slowly. "Indeed. I suppose the emergency services will also appreciate the extra lead time for heart attacks caused by caffeine withdrawal. It really helps with their resource allocation." Mark added, "And think of the paper savings! Everyone will simply stop drinking coffee. A truly sustainable solution, Gordon. You've cracked it."
Gordon, completely oblivious, beamed even brighter. "See? I knew you'd understand the long-term vision!" As he left, Brenda caught Mark's eye. "I'm off to fill out my form for a coffee. Should be ready by my retirement party." Mark sighed. "I'm just going to try and distill the stagnant water from the office plants. It's probably faster."
