The Ballad of the Bot and the Botched Bop
Sarah, after a particularly grueling Monday, slumped onto her worn sofa, her only ambition to achieve horizontal. "Alexa," she mumbled, barely articulating through a yawn, "activate Roomba, living room zone." Alexa, ever the diligent misinterpreter, chirped, "Playing 'Living on a Prayer' by Bon Jovi on Spotify."
The apartment immediately filled with the glorious 80s rock anthem. "No, Alexa! Stop! Roomba!" Sarah yelled, suddenly more alert than she wanted to be. "Did you say 'Bohemian Rhapsody'?" Alexa queried, helpfully switching genres. Queen's operatic intro began to swell.
Meanwhile, the Roomba, apparently feeling left out of the musical performance, rumbled to life from its charging dock under the coffee table. Instead of its usual methodical 'living room zone' sweep, it veered sharply towards Sarah's prized, hand-knitted alpaca throw. A small, suspiciously crunchy 'thwack' echoed as it attempted to vacuum a tassel.
"No, you furry menace!" Sarah shrieked, lunging. The Roomba, sensing impending human interference, executed an evasive maneuver, propelling itself directly into the cat's water bowl with a spectacular splash. Water fanned across the hardwood, mingling with the last vestiges of Freddie Mercury's high notes.
"Alexa, MUTE! EMERGENCY!" Sarah screamed, scrambling to lift the sputtering Roomba. "Muting your smart TV," Alexa replied, completely unperturbed. The Queen concert continued, now accompanied by the gurgling of a drowning vacuum and the frantic yowls of a very disgruntled feline.
Sarah finally tackled the Roomba, flipping it onto its back like a bewildered, technologically advanced beetle. She then, with a primal roar, unplugged Alexa from the wall. Silence descended, thick and heavy, broken only by the drip of cat-bowl water and Sarah's ragged breathing.
She surveyed the damp, tasseled battlefield. "Perhaps," she muttered to the now-inert Roomba, a single, wet alpaca fiber clinging to her eyebrow, "some chores are best handled with a stick and a dustpan. A very, very analogue stick and dustpan."
